Carroll Companies Names Philip Williams New Senior Vice President of Industrial Development
Greensboro-based Carroll Companies – a property development and real estate firm that specializes in luxury real estate – announced this week that the company has chosen Philip Williams to be the Senior Vice President of Industrial Development. In that role, Williams will be responsible for overseeing all activities of Carroll Industrial Development US, which is the industrial development division of The Carroll Companies.
Williams will report directly to The Carroll Companies’ President and CEO Roy Carroll.
As Senior VP, Williams is responsible for “aligning business objectives with effective real estate strategies.” In other words, he leads the complete life cycle of large-scale projects for the company – everything from planning and execution to finding new ways to expand the company’s industrial footprint both regionally and nationally.
Carroll Companies, which owns the Rhino Times, was founded and headquartered in Greensboro by Roy Carroll, II in 1983. It has seen immense growth ever since, It is now a diversified real estate conglomerate that focuses on land development, construction, ownership, management and publication, with a total estimated valuation of over $5.2 billion.
Philip, who grew up in Mississippi but has spent most of his career in Texas, said he understands the challenges of the job and added that he’s inspired by those challenges.
“Embracing the complexities of industrial real estate development, I’ve found, not only fuels economic growth but also sparks innovation and creates jobs,” he said. “I’m extremely proud to apply the principles of leadership, service and diligence to every project I undertake.”
Williams brings a wealth of experience to the Senior VP position. During his extensive and varied career, he’s seen major projects from all sides.
He earned a degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and began his career in investment banking. He later led several regional expansions for leading commercial real estate companies. For two decades he’s been doing what he calls his “passion”: developing and acquiring premier retail, office and industrial properties.
Much of those development efforts were in Texas and the Southeastern US.
During his professional life, he’s been responsible for spearheading the master- planning, development and acquisitions of more than 8 million square-feet of industrial properties, including large cross-dock distribution centers, logistics parks, warehouses and manufacturing facilities.
Outside of work, Williams – an Eagle Scout – enjoys hiking in the mountains, fly fishing, playing golf and spending time on Lake Keowee in South Carolina with his wife Leanne.
Recently, the two relocated to Greensboro from Asheville. They say they’re excited about living in Greensboro.
